WHAT IS SCOPIE ?
The name Scopie comes from the Greek ‘scope’, which means ‘a tool for seeing’.
Scopie was created with the aim of being a useful tool for its region and its sector.
A tool that helps performing arts compagnies to be seen.
A tool that enables audiences to see live performances.
A tool that helps associations to see things more clearly.
An active tool in the transition of the cultural sector.
A tool that helps performing arts compagnies to be seen
After being recognised as one of the most active production offices in the Occitanie region, Scopie has decided to stop providing general support in January 2024, in order to move towards new, more adaptable schemes and thus support more companies.
With a genuine desire to open up to as many people as possible and to share its skills, Scopie now offers a range of support services to suit the needs and budgets of everyone.
A tool that enables audiences to see live performances
Since 2019, Scopie organises artistic and cultural events that are free and open to everyone in the Bassin de Thau area. Scopie also offers audiences the chance to discover performing arts disciplines through artistic and cultural education workshops run by professional artists.
Scopie works with a number of organisations within the Bassin de Thau (local authorities, schools, after-school centres, medical and social services, etc.) to develop events, shows, workshops and residency outings for local residents.
Since 2021, the association has been running its cross-disciplinary Scopie Fun Fest festival in Balaruc-le-Vieux.
A tool that helps associations to see things more clearly
Scopie, based in Frontignan in Hérault (34), is very attached to its local area and defends the principle of cooperation. It aims to be a useful resource for local associations in all sectors, helping them to structure and develop their projects and offering free training courses.
An active tool in the transition of the cultural sector
Scopie is dedicated to the performing arts sector and to the challenges it faces. As such, Scopie aims to be a research space for transition, exploring new models in order to move towards a sector that is more sustainable in every aspect. Our supports, training courses and projects (both local and international) take into account the challenges of a fair transition from an ecological, economic and social point of view. We pay close attention to the development of greener, more sustainable production methods, and to the creation of solutions to staff shortages and the isolation of support workers and artists.
